Virtuoso 6.1.6 and KDE 4.9

Shortly after KDE 4.9 hits the net Virtuoso 6.1.6 follows. Virtuoso 6.1.6 comes with a ton of fixes, improvements and optimizations and it is highly recommended to update for the best Nepomuk experience.

Virtuoso 6.1.6 has been tested by the Nepomuk team in cooperation with OpenLink Software before its release. It is the recommended release for Nepomuk. This is not only true for KDE 4.9 but for any version before it.

Get the sources while they are hot and build your packages.

  1. Great stuff! I see Debian has now frozen for release, but it still has 6.1.4. So, would you say that 6.1.6 really should be in Debian stable and not 6.1.4? If so, I’m wondering how it could be argued. Debian is now really only accepting fixes that fixes serious problems.

Is it correct that Virtuoso now has three developing branches, 6.1.*, 6.4 and 7.0? Is it the case that 6.1.* only gets fixes and additions to improve stability? That would be an argument. Then, are there any fixes since 6.1.4 that could be considered serious or critical?

  3. Trueg, virtuoso-t is hogging more than 55% of my CPU(s) even in KDE 4.10 and (4.11 unstable from openSUSE). I have to completely turn off nepomuk and disable akonadi_nepomuk_feeder to get any semblance of a usable KDE desktop.
WIll this ever be resolved completely? Is this some regression creeping in?
Have used Kontact/Kmail for so long that I don’t have the option to switch to any other mail client so this is really killing my KDE experience at work (yes, unbelievably, I do use KDE at work!)
